Ready... Set... Dodgeball!
Today the Islander Lager Open Dodgeball Championships were held at the Save-On-Foods Arena. There were a hundred teams playing, making it the largest dodgeball tournament in Canada. Fifty teams played in the morning round and fifty in the afternoons. There were five courts with ten teams on each court. Each team played nine games, one against each other team on their court. I played on the Ship Constructor Software Pirates (2-7). The other Ship Constructor team was called the Sassy Sailors (1-8). All the teams had costumes - ours were tank tops, sweatbands, and the guys wore hot pink women's bathing suit shorts (it was hot). Apparently dodgeball is dangerous - I don't know why they let kids play it! One of our players tore his Achilles tendon, a girl on another court was hit in the head by a guy on our court, and a girl broke her ankle - and that was just on our side of the Arena in the afternoon round! All in all, a good time.
